When I teach this workshop to young-ish people, in the discussion portion, the kids often ask why the narrator doesn’t simply perform an emergency C-section on the side of the road. One 7th grader wrote a response piece called “If you give a mouse a cookie, then you have to give a deer a C-section” which she turned into a book. She held a book signing in the cafeteria but, for some reason, not a lot of people wanted a copy.
